Hon. Michael A. Martinez (Ret.) – JAMS Denver

Hon. Michael A. Martinez (Ret.) brings more than 28 years of experience as a Colorado judicial officer to mediation and arbitration at JAMS Denver. Appointed to the Denver District Court in 2000, he served as Chief Judge of the Second Judicial District from 2014 until his retirement in 2022, and as Presiding Judge of the Colorado Statewide Grand Jury.

Before taking the bench, Judge Martinez was a trial lawyer who tried more than 60 cases to verdict, with an emphasis on personal injury, medical malpractice, products liability, and negligence. That background as both judge and trial attorney gives him a clear view of risk and resolution options, helping parties resolve disputes efficiently.

He is a 30-year faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, a recipient of the ABOTA Judicial Excellence Award, a Fellow of the Academy of Court Appointed Neutrals, and a longtime member of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association.
